Amir Khan Academy
One of our most recent and high-profile installations comes from the Amir Khan Academy in Bolton. Not only the home of Amir Khan, but it also acts as host for Elite Boxing Trainer Joe Gallagher and his exciting stable of British boxers. Therefore, the space needed to be suitable for professional boxers, youthful amateurs and beginners to the sport.
Since 1993, Gallagher’s Boxing Gym has had unprecedented success to date with multiple world titles, international accolades and domestic pride, becoming a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world. A team that proudly includes world champions, Callum Smith, Anthony Crolla, Liam Smith and Paul Butler to name a few.
Due to the range of cliental the gym needed to be set up in a way that could offer a variety of different training possibilities from professional training camps to various types of training classes. It was pivotal for the pro fighters that all the necessary tools were available to ensure they could reach peak condition and make weight for any upcoming fight nights.
Set up of the facility was crucial to encapsulate the needs of the various training demands. Therefore, a range of equipment was needed to supplement the variety of abilities and levels for a diverse group of athletes.
Exigo’s Combat Rig has provided a great solution that allows for a variety of users to not only work the bag but to also provide additional functional training exercises to their workout without taking up too much floor space. This has not only proven a great solution for the Pro’s but also a brilliant asset when it comes to delivering a class.
An 18FT Pro Training Ring complete with custom branding is now the focal point of the gym, essential for sparring sessions while also providing a platform for media workout days.
Redundant space was previously unused however Exigo took full advantage of this, providing a compact functional wall solution complete with integrated lifting platforms and storage to maximise the area.
In addition, a Dual Adjustable Pulley, Reverse Hyper Extension and Treadmills were installed ensuring the range of equipment met the brief and delivered a facility capable of addressing the needs of the client.
